1. Palaivananathar Temple
Palaivananathar Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Papanasam, Tamil Nadu, India. It is a Paadal Petra Sthalam and is considered to be the 19th in the series of Thevara Stalams in the Chola kingdom located south of the river Kaveri. The Thirupalaithurai temple with 2 prakarams (outer courtyard) occupies an area of 3 acres, and its entrance is crowned with a 5 tiered Rajagopuram. Inscriptions from the Chola and Vijayanagara Empire periods are seen in this temple. Here Lord Shiva is also known as Paalaivananathar.

2. Sri Ramalingaswami Temple (108 Divya Desam )
Papanasam (Sri Ramalingeswarar Temple/ 108 Shiva Linga Temple) – In Tamil literally it means “Destruction of Sins” It is believed that worshipping Lord Shiva in this temple would remove all sins. This temple was build by Lord Rama and the 108 Shiva lingas were installed by him.Lord Ramalingaswami is in the main shrine. On a hall (Mandap) there are 106 Shiva Lingas in 3 rows.other significance of the temple is that Kamadenu the divine cow has an equal place with Nandhi the bull vehicle of Lord Shriva before His shrine.

3. Srinivasa Perumal Temple
Papanasam Srinivasa Perumal Temple: Apart from the Shiva temple covered previously, Papanasam also houses Shri Pankajavalli sametha Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple. This is on the Tanjavur Kumbakonam main road. Though this is an old temple, it is relatively a small one. The eastern entrance is having a three tiered gopuram which was constructed only in 2007. The last consecration took place in 2014. ( Papanasam also happens to be the birth place of Shri Papanasam Sivan, the well known Carnatic Music composer and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar of the Art of Living Foundation)
